Hi and thanks for taking the time to pop by….. I recently decided to do something new with my blog, I decided to find something either interesting or funny, or both. And write about my own opinions on it rather than write an online diary! Especially as my own life is pretty mundane! I guess we can’t all have interesting lives! I want to share with you a video of where i live! admittedly this shows the more glamorous side of things, and not the binge drinkers and drug users etc! But this proves it's never Dull in Hull, Out of all the places I've lived Hull is where my heart is!

In Turkey Most of the souvenirs you buy have a picture of a blue eye on them, I looked up the story behind it several years ago and it is claimed the Blue eye wards off Evil Well Last time we went to Turkey I asked My Jeweller Sedat the story behind the eye and he told me a different and more heart warming account of why it is considered Lucky Here i will try and relate the story to you! Back in the times of the ottoman empire there were many Battles and there was a very successful commander, So Successful was he that the king granted the Hand of his daughter in marriage to the commander. When the couple married They had a child and his wife made him promise to always be there and watch over them and never to go to war again! As he loved his wife he made that promise to her, However the Turks were really up against it in battle later on and He called for his son in law, Having previously also promised the King that he would serve him whenever he ws needed He felt he could not turn his back on the promises he made! He went to war but before doing so he tore his eye from it's socket and gave it to the princess and told her, whenever you are scared, worried or lonely hold my eye over your head and you will know i am watching over you! at the end of the war I will be back to take care of you both! Well sadly the commander lost his life in a really fierce battle! however the princess always felt his warmth, and always felt he was there watching over her and their child! You May ask how this relates to globalized Love Well If you are a true friend You will know i care about you, You can see this eye and you can keep coming back and looking at it when you feel lonely and know I am watching out for you! You can print the picture and keep it in your purse or wallet and Know that there is never a need to feel alone! I may be countries apart from you But Miles don't always have to matter! I am looking towards making this site a fun place to be! But obviously in order to do that I need content, and only have a limited amount of time to look for the really funny stuff! If you find something really funny please send me a link to it and if it's Family entertainment I will see if i can add it here! Things I can use are videos, Jokes, pictures or just funny stories that happened to you! Obviously the More original it is the better! Please remember this is a friendly, community and we won't be posting anything that's considered harassment no matter how funny it might seem to some , It might offend others! We Got up this morning to the sound of the workmen Removing the Gutters and Fallpipes from the front of the house! The noise they make when working is a pain, But the jobs need doing! We came downstairs and sat down having our usual Morning chat over a cup of coffee, Well I had a coffee, Joann wasn't to enthused first thing in the morning, she just wanted to take some Tyrozets for her bad throat (Just getting over a cold) Then Joann's mom called and said the Billy (One of her African Grey Parrots) was Ill, and that she was just going to get herself ready and take him to the Vets, Apparently he was laid on his side at the bottom of his cage and breathing more heavily than usual, He tried getting up to get back on his perch but couldn't manage it. She went off to get ready, But Just 10 minutes passed and we got a call to say he had passed away! Billy was inherited when Joann.s Grandma passed away and had since become one of the family, He would sit and talk all day and night and mimic the adverts off of TV, He swore on occasion and some of the things he had picked up over the years are unrepeatable! As soon as you walked in the door you were guaranteed a welcome because Billy would say "Hiya" I am one of those people who try not to become attached to animals...... But as most of you know I am an easy touch, They just have to look at me and I'm like putty in their hands! I'll miss Billy But even moreso when i walk into my mother in laws and he isn't there! The weird thing is she inherited another African grey earlier this year, When we had all the floods earlier this year, I don't know the full story behind it, Joann can tell it better than me and at the moment she is down at her moms comforting her! Billy's death comes on My late Grandfather's Birthday so it's not a date i will easily forget! Goodbye Billy, reunited with Gran now, Fly away my friend, fly , fly, fly away Rest In Peace | | This is an album of some of the many friends we have made over the years visiting Marmaris in Turkey Also a few pictures i have taken of the Gorgeous views looking from the seafront and the apartment!
Some time in the future I aim to publish online a guide to shops and restaurants so if you ever visit marmaris please give me feedback on Bars Restaurants shops and accomodation!

During our lives we make many many choices, and I remember my Gran telling me that how i grow up will depend on the company i keep when i am young, And to a great extent she was right! As a young kid i was bullied at school, so my way out of it and thinking it made me more popular was to be the class clown, Make people laugh and win peoples friendship, I was always taught that you were more of a man if you walked away from a fight than if you stood your ground, I've never been involved in a fight as such, though i should have hit the bullies! I was threatened at school for Money, so i didn't have the nerve to tell anyone at home so i stole from my family, That got me in more bother! Eventually i started shop lifting so i could sell the stuff i got to pay off the people who were threatening me. All good things come to an end! I was caught shoplifting in what was the FineFare Supermarket when i was 15, the police came and took me first to school and then back home to my parents! Luckily when the supermarket heard why i had done it they wouldn't press charges, But I was referred to a child Psychologist! Well the bullies didn't bother me any more after that because i started naming and shaming them, Never in my life had i felt so much shame myself...... It took getting caught to realize just how far people had pushed me! Some of the friends i made during that Dark spell in my life were also shop lifting, But mostly for the "Buzz" I can't name people here because that was then and this is now, some of those people have respectable jobs, and families that know nothing of their dark past, Though i know of others i associated with when i was a kid who have served time in Jail for theft and criminal damage and one for murder! Which makes me so thankful that i got caught, That day changed my life, I am glad My Gran wasn't alive because i think the shock would have hurt her so much! My rebelliousness didn't start 'til after Gran passed away and I'd moved into a house with my Mom and dad! When i lived with Gran I was quiet, shy, polite, More like the Markie most of you know but i grew out of being shy when i started chasing Girls! Have i changed? Well you guys are my friends, You all know me! you are the company i now choose to spend time with, and of course my work colleagues who are all a good bunch of characters, Personally I do agree that our friends shape our lives, but years go by and friends come and go, Best friends stick around most of those kids i knew as "Friends" back then were really just acquaintances, we were forced together by circumstance and other than that we would probably never have met or been real friends. A final thought here not really relative but just remember "Age is just a perception" I am getting older (we all are) But I look at myself and feel old! yet my neighbour Betty called me young the other day and really made my day! Love thy neighbour! (If she keeps calling me "Young" i'll always love her LOL BTW Betty is 83 and a lovely lady Well It was my 43rd birthday yesterday, My Birthday is never a particularly happy day because it's the day that reminds me I was a twin and that my twin brother died on this day too! Although Leonard only lived 11 hours it's amazing that he is in my thoughts But he is each and every day in one way or another! I often wonder how things might have been different and if we would have fought over girls, and whether i would have been any different as a person! Personally i think he would have made me stronger because of a competitive streak, Most likely fitter as I guess we would have been doing more "Boy stuff" together and i only have two sisters! Though I am not moaning about my sisters Maggie who is older than me By 20 months and Eve is 29 months younger, Over the years as Kids we all fought each over, But as years went on we grew closer and although not in each others pockets we do try and keep in touch! Maggie came over to Hull today and we met up and went for a coffee and cake! Yes i know I know the diet skipped a day so we could have some carrot cake and Joann bought me a terry's chocolate Orange amongst a few other things But hey just think! Oranges and carrots ain't that two of my Five a day???? they tell you to eat them and say it's healthy so come on gimme a break! Eve called me tonight and sent me a card which is more than my dad and mom did! Hmmmmm right now i just won't go there ! Upset and annoyed..... He didn't forget my Birthday But because he forgot Joann's two weeks ago he didn't want to send me a card because he didn't want to look bad! Why not have just sent Jo's a couple days late? she wouldn't have minded, Maybe i should start forgetting! But then two wrongs don't make a right do they! Well i wasn't going to let that spoil my day! so i had to comfort eat! Hmmmm so yesterday was a bad day to even try to diet! Today well let's just hope things go better! My "sister" carrie and new "Brother" Jose got married Yesterday! I hope with all my heart that the day went smoothly, They really are two wonderful people, Carrie and Jose if you read this I want you to know I love you both and am so sorry i couldn't get the time off to come over! I hope to visit you both in the future! Have to go now is it just hit me it's after 3 am and i should be sleeping! Love to all my friends and visitors! Well, Back to work after 3 weeks and 3 days off! I am actually looking forward to going back! Though I also hope to get back on with my studies now..... yes i know my studies will eventually lead to me leaving this job! It's just the lads i work with I will miss, well some of them anyway! The others are the reason I am looking to get out! Some people don't pull their weight and leave everything to those who have a conscience! I was made a lot happier today when i found my "sister" Carrie had eventually found me! Carrie is an online friend in Puerto Rico, She is getting married on saturday, and how i wish i could have gone! carrie has been such a good friend over the small time i have known her, I feel like i have known her a lifetime! She did threaten to run away with my wife once! Hmmm now there's an idea to avoid those shopping holidays LOL. No Carrie is not like that.... she loves people and loves life.... she also loves Coffee,cake and biscuits! OMG she is my soulmate! Well as i was already married before Carrie and I met I guess I have to be loyal to my chocoholic shopaholic, And Carrie was in the froes of arranging her wedding to that lucky guy Jose! I don't know about you people But I have a passion for coffee! Though not necessarily StarBucks, I just liked the coffee theme! I did find other themes for coffee but wasted so much time trying to change the font colour because some of the Links were almost invisible because of the Colour! This could be better and maybe I will get to finetune it soon 
I really wanted this as a background so i need to work on it more! Well, we just got back from lunch and i hane to admit I enjoyed it but had no room for desert! Steak and eggs with beans and mushrooms and chips and to keep it all healthy I had a nice grilled tomato. LOL Burp ..... That went down well! Must remember not to overdo the tomato in future! Well tomorrow will be my first day back to work! the vacation is finally over til next year, I usually take a week off around May/June time then three weeks between summer and fall, Next year that will be a little earlier as my vacation is booked for september 8th, I only go away for two weeks but come back to all those little pre winter jobs like clearing drains and gutters raking leaves and clearing the garden! wow could do with three months LOL Well last new year i started a diet! I lost over 14lbs but have gained 4lbs back with over indulging on vacation! Now it's time to go back to the diet in earnest! No more chips! Oh i have to allow for birthday cake next week! Grrrr diets always start at silly times LOL I have one small bar of chocolate left over from shopping i got 10 minutes ago which needs to find a new home! Any takers?????? Put your name and address on a postcard and if it's still here by the time i receive your card I will post it to the first one out of the hat! Well what now Markie? ............ what ya gonna do this evening? Well yesterday I started making a help page on Markiemania.com for people who have problems with their PC running slow and viruses etc I put in some links to all the free software that is available that I use to get rid of those demons! and makes my computer run faster! I got about half way through last night when i had to stop as my eyes were stinging me, so i need to go back and finish that off! There are also 10 games for you all to download and play just follow the navigation bar links! Oh did i forget to put the address for the postcards? Dang i am so sorry to have to inform you that the chocolate bar enjoyed it's last moments on earth just moments ago! Mmmmm so where has jo hidden my Birthday cake, Tum ti tum hi ho hi ho looking for the cake i go! Catch you guys later, and if you find my cake please let me know!

Yes woo hoo today is my Birthday! And guess what? It's slap bang in the middle of 5 days off work! think i might go out for a meal to celebrate! anyone want to join me and celebrate?? we could have a cyber birthday with web cams and cake! MMMMMMmm cake Hmm spent a few hours adding a few games to markiemania.com and deleting older stuff from there! there are currently 10 games there and i plan to add a few every day But don't get on my back if that doesn't work out! I've spent too much time playing Gems legend! (yes its one of the free downloads i just added!) I haven't even been out of the house today but tomorrow i plan on getting some more timber to put the roof on the cat run! I also think I'll be putting some weedkiller down outside to try and keep my back garden down to a more manageable level! I cant believe i have been back from Turkey almost a week and haven't really blogged about it yet! I'll be adding some pics tomorrow and blogging about my vacation! Next year My sister and brother in law will be joining us on vacation and we are going back to Turkey! I love the place however this year I do think we spent too much time shopping and dining and not enough time seeing any sites! I wanted to go on a boat trip but Joann was still a little wary about it as she was ill last time we were there, Though i hasten to add it had nothing to do with the boats it was heat and dehydration, but because it was worse when she was on a boat trip i think it made her a little over cautious! Next year we weill go back to doing a few trips like the jeep safari a boat trip and mud baths! a trip to Pumakale and Ephesus, and possibly a trip over to Rhodes too! Anyway thats a different blog! Yesterday there was a computer fair in Hull and it was by far the worst i have ever been too all that was on sale was discs, ink and software! and one or two guys selling components usually the venue is full of exhibitors! but i think it might have been that it was a mid week fair! I hope that was the only reason for both a dismal display and a poor attendance! Well i guess thats bought y'all up to date with Markie's world! I just popped in here to let everyone know that Jo and I are still alive and kicking!
We have both been really busy on other projects! and neither of us really have time to blog or have that nuch stuff to blog about!
The Credit Crunch is the biggest impact on our lives for a long time, i work for a company that manufactures both Mobile homes and holiday lodges, as both are very much luxury items over here then these are the things people have to forego in order to be able to pay their bills and ride out this global recession!
Our company have made close to 100 redundant in the past 12 months, we live week to week hoping and praying i wont be the next victim, but at the same time we have a lot of sympathy for those who have gone! The problem is for most of the guys they have been in the industry from leaving school and know nothing else, None of the other firms in town or around here are hiring in this industry as we are all in the same position!
Also there is a glut of second hand homes available that were used for flood victims last year and they are going very cheaply because they have a fair bit of wear and tear. However that makes them a great buy for someone who is handy at DIY!
Vacation time is almost upon us now we leave for Turkey in less than 5 weeks, We are really looking forward to meeting up with old friends, and possibly getting out and about a little more this year, as Joann was ill last year!
